The schools
that have qualified include Paballelo High School fromSiyanda Region, Langberg High School (John TaoleGaetseweRegion),
Steinkopf High School (NamaquaRegion), Rietvale High School (Frances Baard
Region)and Hoer Skool Orion (PixleyKaSemeRegion).
Look out for reigning champions, Rietvale
High School, who are old campaigners in the tournament winning through to the
Provincial Finals four times, but only managing to get to the National Finals
once, last year, where they finished in 11th position. Pabalelo Secondary School from Siyanda
Regions, 2011 Provincial Final runners-up did better coming in at 7th
position.
Rietvale High School coach, KaperSandiel, feels that the team has done
enough work to ensure a second win in succession: “Experience counts a lot and five of my
players were in the squad last year, including my captain and midfielder,
Clifton Pretorius.”
2011 Rievale High School goalkeeper, Franco Haai, was identified by the
Mamelodi Sundowns scouts and is currently in the Academy. “Franco is one of only two players that were
picked from 2011 to join Sundowns and this gives my players even more reason to
perform well. Dreams do come true and
Franco is a fine example of this.”
The only new
school in the Provincial Finals will be Hoërskool
Orion. Although they have been playing
in the Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup since 2008 this will be their first Provincial
Final game.
The rules and
regulations of the Sanlam Kay Motsepe Schools Cup allow for the winning team
and runners-up to compete in the National Finals taking placein the Free State
