Coca-Cola® Hero of the day for day 5





Ngwekazi Khanya Ncusane from Western Province has been named the Coca-Cola® Hero of the day for day 5 of the U18 Coca-Cola® Craven Week.

The prestigious Coca-Cola® Hero of the Day award is presented on each day of the tournament in recognition of a game changing ‘hero’ moment.  Ngwekazi was selected for the award by a Coca-Cola appointed panel of rugby experts, led by SuperSport anchor Elma Smit.  His hero moment came after the Lions had found their way back into the game after scoring an intercept try. The Lions kicked off and the ball moved very quickly down the Western Province backline where the big eighth man was standing on the wing. There was nothing on for him when he received the ball so he tried to make something out of nothing. Ngwekazi broke through the Lions defense and chipped the ball through for his support players, setting off a move which eventually led to him scoring the match defining try.

“I saw other players wearing the Coca-Cola® Hero of the Day red shorts and when I won the award I was really pleased that I got mine too. I wish that I had the chance to wear them in a match as I believe the Coca-Cola® Hero of the Day is more prestigious than a man of the match award,” said Ngwekazi.

“A big congratulations to Khanya on his selection as the Coca-Cola® Hero of the Day.  This year’s final match was an exciting, hard fought contest. At the end of the match it was Ngwekazi's moment that separated the two teams. His award is well deserved,” added Elma Smit.

Coca-Cola® Hero of the day for day 4 of the U18 Coca-Cola® Craven Week




Darren Adonis from South Western Districts has been named the Coca-Cola® Hero of the day for day 4 of the U18 Coca-Cola® Craven Week.

The prestigious Coca-Cola® Hero of the Day award is presented on each day of the tournament in recognition of a game changing ‘hero’ moment.  Darren was selected for the award by a Coca-Cola appointed panel of rugby experts, led by SuperSport anchor Elma Smit.  His hero moment came after taking a pass from a lineout and setting off on an epic run, dodging tackle after tackle to set-up a teammate to score what proved to be the match winning try in their match against Boland.

‘Winning the Coca-Cola Hero of the Day was the highlight of my tournament so far. We had a tough start at the beginning of the tournament losing to the Blue Bulls but we came back nicely today to win against a very strong Border side,’ said Darren.

“A big congratulations to Darren on his selection as the Coca-Cola® Hero of the Day.  The match between SWD and Boland was one of the most exciting of the Coca-Cola® Craven week so far and was calling out for a dramatic winning moment.  Darren provided that moment with his heroic run which set-up the try and took his team to victory,” added Elma Smit.

COCA-COLA® CRAVEN WEEK HERO OF THE DAY (DAY 3)






De-an Ackermann from Griquas has been named the Coca-Cola® Hero of the day for day 3 of the U18 Coca-Cola® Craven Week.

The prestigious Coca-Cola® Hero of the Day award is presented on each day of the tournament in recognition of a game changing ‘hero’ moment.  De-an was selected for the award by a Coca-Cola appointed panel of rugby experts, led by SuperSport anchor Elma Smit.  De-an displayed heroism and good sportsmanship after offloading the ball in a tackle to a player that was in a better position than him instead of going for personal glory and his third try.

"It is an honour for me to win thie accolade but there is no I in team so my first goal is to help the team out and if I do that well then the awards will come,' said De-an
