Coca-Cola Hero of the day for day 2 at the Coca-Cola T20 Cricket Challenge

Day 2’s Coca-Cola Hero of the day at the Coca-Cola T20 Cricket challenge is Christiaan Geel from the Knights.

The Knight’s captain and Grey College captain, Christiaan Geel won this accolade for the way he captained his team in a losing encounter against the Titans. Grey College batted first and only posted 115 for 9 in their 20 overs which was nowhere enough. The Titans, represented by Waterkloof Hoerskool, started to knock off the score easily and were sitting at 98 for 2 in 13 overs. The team morale was down and they were wondering how long it would take for the Titans to put them out of their misery when Christiaan started to marshal his troops, change fielding positions and change bowlers around. The Titans lost 5 wickets in trying to get the last 18 runs. He gave the Knights a chance to believe and encouragement leading into their last encounter on day 3.

“It is a pleasure to have a captain you can trust on the field. His captaincy almost swung a game where we were down and out, into our favour with the way he kept the players together and with the bowling changes he made. The whole team support and believe in him. Christiaan Geel is a great and respected captain,” says Andre Bester, cricket coach  Grey College.
