South African representatives, Bree Primary School from Johannesburg have made is all the way to the semi-finals where they will play against Brazil for a place in tomorrow’s finals at Orlando stadium. The kids played very well yesterday and somehow managed to up their game as the tournament has got into its deciding phase.
Their first game today was against a very powerful Mexico team. The teams drew 1-1 and came down to a penalty shootout where they South African team won 3-2.
The second game was totally dominated by Bree Primary School. Poor Indonesia had a good lesson on South African soccer. South Africa won 2-0.
The kids were also treated to a visit by Zinedine Zidane. He spent a couple of hours avoiding journalists and photographers and trying to watch some kid’s soccer.
There are also a couple of groups of kids from Soweto and Mamalodi that are here to support the South African teams. They want to be part of this tournament so their representatives are going to register them in next year’s competition.
